Riley goes for 5-minute mile

Morning run

It was cold yesterday morning, about 30 degrees, but I got out and made it 30 minutes before school. Up to Eastlake, two laps on the road in 5:40 each, and home in about 9 minutes. It was a good run. I felt loose and fast.

Riley: I once was a miler. I ran 4:28 in high school (along with a 1:58 half-mile). But that was 33 years ago. I have run with minimal consistency and success since then, but I have always been a runner in my mind and in my heart. Now, I want to fulfill this dream of running a 5:28 mile and a 2:30 800, one minute behind my best in the 1600 and 32 seconds behind my best in the 800. The nice thing is, I'm still running and hopefully always will.
